I cried today

Tears of sorrow mixed with tears of joy; it's been a long time since I cried the way I did today. An incredible woman and a dearest friend, Barby Smith, whom I have known for almost twenty years, is likely near the end of her battle with cancer. I called her today and found myself unable to hold back emotion. My heart grieves because she will be missed, most especially by her husband Dwight and all their family, but also by the countless lives that she has touched. My heart also rejoices, though, for Barby is headed to glory in her eternal home, and there she will be waiting for those of us who will follow. How awesome it is that when we know the truth, we can say without fear: O death where is thy victory, O death where is thy sting?
